Here at The Black Flag we are often accused of being mindless metal heads who do nothing more than jump around to loud music and punch each other. Well for the most part that’s true, but every now and again we like to put our Tazmanian Devil slippers on, sip a Black Coffee and indulge in a good book, lucky for us, up and coming horror writer Jamie J Bryer was on board to give us a look at his new book.
Jamie J Bryer is a gentle giant, outgoing and enthusiastic, with an interesting outlook on life. When he was telling me about the process of writing The Legend of Augustine: The Road to Nowhere, it was clear that it was a story that needed to be written, like the author really had no choice, it just needed to be put down, and after a long period of research, writing, re-writing finally the book was self published through Amazon for Kindle. So what is the book about? well this is what the man himself says:
A group of friends put a seemingly harmless urban legend to the test, and unwittingly summon an ancient evil. Lost, hungry and exhausted, they are subjected to a terrifying ordeal, a fight for survival that takes them to their limits. Will they survive and find their way home, or fall prey to a merciless entity that always seems to be one step ahead of them?
We love a good horror here at The Flag and this title doesn’t disappoint, it’s intelligent and thought provoking, the characters are strong and the descriptions of the settings are almost photographic, in essence you really get a sense of being inside the story. It’s got some great reviews from readers who have been mesmorised by the story and can’t wait for the continuation of the story, Jamie is working on the sequal right now and we can look forward to more edge-of-your-seat thrills in the next part of the story.
