Thursday came with shock news from the touring festival’s organizers. Sonisphere UK has been cancelled. The festival that should have rocked our world at the usual Knebworth Park, for three days in early July, 6th to 8th, is not taking place anymore.
Headliners included rock legends such as Kiss, Faith No More and the cream of the crop, Queen, recently reunited and with the new front-man Adam Lambert.
The organizers declared: ‘Putting the festival together in what is proving to be a very challenging year was more difficult than we anticipated and we have spent the last few months fighting hard to keep Sonisphere in the calendar. Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that we would be unable to run the festival to a standard that both the artists and Sonisphere’s audience would rightly expect.’
They also apologized to the artists, staff and contractors but most of all to the fans that supported the festival and mentioned that ‘Ticket holders will automatically receive a full refund direct from their ticket agents.’
Other notable acts at the festival included Evanescence, Marilyn Manson, The Blackout and Incubus.
Even though Sonisphere Knebworth will not be taking place this year, the editions in other countries such as France, Spain, Switzerland and Finland will take place as normal, with Metallica headlining three of them.
