London_based metal machine Turbogeist are releasing a 5-track EP and we lucky bastards here at the Black Flag got our dirty paws on a copy. So we’ve played it over the ship’s PA to motivate the crew and now we’re ready to really rock.

After a particularly ropey day there is nothing I like more than chucking on a heavy CD and indulging in a spot of harmless head-banging, horn waving, hedonism, kicking off the work boots and skanking round my front room waiting for the Ritalin to kick in. Luckily Turbogeist have produced a great little EP, Ancient Secrets, that allows me to do just that, in five tracks of heavy-hitting metal fury. Thanks Turbogeist.

Opening track Mermaid’s Revenge is a catchy little track in the vein of White Zombie, growly vocals and punchy riffs bring it together nicely so by the time you get to Zero Friends, a fast and hard monster of a track, you really are ready to kick some arse. The relentless aggression sees no end in following tracks Black Hole, Upfront and Rats, all of which deliver suitable amounts of rage filled calamity, especially my favourite, Upfront, which has more bass than a pizza shop on a council estate and really hammers your head.

The EP is good, a nice little introduction to the band for anyone who hasn’t seen them live, definitely something here everyone can have a nod to over a large Jack Daniels. It’ll be nice to see what these guys can produce when they get their hands on some quality production time and bash out a full length album.

Grab this EP when it comes out 11th March 2013 and go see these guys in concert when they tour with ex-gallows fronted Pure Love in February. Details are available on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or you can hear the tracks on SoundCloud.

Head over to the bands Website for more.
