Bad for Lazarus are a five piece hailing from the Seaside town of Brighton. The band have been making waves recently by not only getting a hell of a lot of airplay on BBC Radio 2 but getting to the number 2 spot on the NME chart, which is some accomplishment for a band, that in its present incarnation, has only been together since January of this year. In fact there is a huge buzz forming around these guys at the moment and I thought it time to investigate.

Bad for Lazarus play melodic rock that also fuses element of Hip-Hop and blues seemlessly to create a unique and refreshing sound that is totally their own.

Their uniqueness is apparent by the crowd that had turned up to support them on a gloomy Tuesday. The upstairs venue was packed solid as the boys launched into their set. And what a set it was. Bad for Lazarus put on a cracking show and I would definitely recommend you check them out if you’ve got the chance.

The band are incredibly tight instrumentally and lyrically. Clearly they love playing music and it shines though on every track that they play. My only fault with the gig at all is that the sound man has given them slightly muffled vocals, which obviously isn’t the bands fault.

All in all I think Bad for Lazarus are a excellent live act. Though I do think they could do with a few more dancy tracks though as the audience rarely did more than tap their feet. Though saying that, these guys are definitely one to watch out for and I wouldn’t be surprised if their rise to fame has only just begun.

All in all I’m gonna give this gig a cool 8/10. Bad

We were lucky enough to catch up with the band for a quick chat and to find out what makes them tick
