At the 2014 Juno Awards, Canada’s premier music industry event, Protest The Hero received the Juno for ‘Best Metal / Hard Music Album of 2013’ for their current studio outing, Volition, out now via Spinefarm Records.
The band was appearing in Wilmington, North Carolina, on the second leg of their North American tour for Volition, when they received the news.
Says PTH guitarist Tim Millar: “We are very proud to be recognised by the Juno Awards for ‘Best Metal / Hard Music Album of 2013’. 2013 was a crazy year, and without all the hard work of the people who made the record come to life, and all the people who contributed to the record before hearing a single note, this album would not have been possible. We are forever in your debt.”
Guitarist Luke Hoskin adds: “We are thrilled with our recent Juno win! We had incredible company in our category, and it could have gone to anyone. We remain proud Canadians even though we are currently touring south of the border. Thanks for all the support!”
In addition to this, PTH have been announced to play Sonisphere UK 2014. The three-day rock and metal event will return to the grounds of Knebworth House from Friday, July 4 to Sunday, July 6, after a two-year absence. The UK leg of the international touring festival will help celebrate Knebworth’s 40th anniversary of staging rock concerts.
Sonisphere 2014 is one of many European festival appearances confirmed for PTH this summer, with France’s Hellfest and Germany’s With Full Force Festival already announced.
Further UK / European touring will follow in the autumn.
