GWAR frontman Dave Brockie, better know to fans as Oderus Urungus death has been revealed as an accidental Heroin Overdose.
Brockie passed away on March 23rd in Richmond Virginia at the fairly young age of 50 years old. The State Medical Examiner Office has finally revealed that the singers cause of death was in fact an accidental Heroin overdose.
Jack Flanagan, Brockies manager announced his death back in March and said in a statement “It is with a saddened heart, that I confirm my dear friend Dave Brockie, artist, musician, and lead singer of GWAR passed away at approximately 6:50 p.m. EST Sunday, March 23, 2014. His body was found Sunday by his bandmate at his home in Richmond, VA. Richmond authorities have confirmed his death and next of kin has been notified. A full autopsy will be performed.”
The website TMZ reported that Brockie’s was found upright sitting in a chair. Reports indicate that police investigators found evidence of heroin use at the time, but that Brockie’s cause of death could not be confirmed until after toxicology tests.
There will be a public memorial for Brockie at the bands annual B-Q on 16th August in Richmond, where the band are also planning to build a monument to their lost frontman.
