‘Somewhere’ the new Jimi Hendrix single received its first airplay in full this morning on Shaun Keaveney’s BBC Radio 6 Breakfast show. The previously unheard track is the first to be released from upcoming album ‘People, Hell and Angels, made up of studio sessions recorded between 1968 – 1969. The album sees Hendrix experiment with different instruments as well as collaborate with a broad range of musicians including Stephen Stills, Larry Lee and Buddy Miles.
It’s a fantastic window into Jimi’s mind putting together bands that were different from ‘The Experience’ Producer Eddie Kramer says. ‘In 68 – 69 he was in the studio constantly. He would come up with these great song ideas, and he would be at the Record Plant or the Hit Factory or at whatever studio he could get into, and during this time he’s experimenting; sort of stretching out the boundaries, and it yielded some fantastic songs which are included in this album’.
The full interview with Kramer is on The Official Jimi Hendrix website, as well as a taster of ‘Somewhere’.
People, Hell and Angels is released on 04.03.13.
