Every now and again we’re lucky enough here at The Black Flag to chat to pretty girls about modelling and how they get on in the industry, it’s a hard life you know. Today it’s my turn when I meet the stunning Sabryna.

Alternative modelling is on the rise in the UK, but it’s nothing new in the US and these days there are lots of girls on the American Alternative scene and photographers giving us some amazing shots. One of the girls is the delightful Sabryna,  who was kind enough to give me some time so I could find out what it takes to be an Alternative Model in the States.

TBF: Hi, thanks for having a chat

SS: Thanks for having me

TBF: So where and when were you born?

SS: I was born in upstate New York on 11th June 1989, and I love Birthday Presents 😉

TBF: Do you have any Tattoos and/or Piercings?

SS: Oh man this is going to take awhile; I have 2 piercings in my neck, 11 in my ears, my belly button, nose, and lip. I have tattoos on both feet and ankles, both wrists, my right hip, right lower back, center of my lower back, between my shoulder blades, behind my right ear and on my left rib cage. I think that’s all of them.

TBF: What did you do before modelling?

SS: I was just a regular student… Living the dream lol

TBF: When did you start modelling and why?

SS: I started around 19. I liked the comments people gave on my photos. It really helped build my self esteem, so I kept doing it.

TBF: What was your first modelling job?

SS:  My first modeling job was a small town in PA. The photographer had a studio in his garage and I was dressed like a school girl. I got to get my hair and makeup done which was a cool experience.

TBF: Was it hard to get into the business?
SS: I don’t know if I’d consider myself “in the business”. I’ve made my own way and played by my own rules. However being in a small town it’s pretty hard to find photographers or projects and even harder to get published.
TBF: Since you started what kind of modelling have you done?
SS: I have done alternative, glamour, artistic nude, pin up.. etc.
TBF: What are your favourite kind of shoots?
SS: I love all of them!
TBF: How do you maintain your figure?
SS: Haha honestly I don’t. I try to work out and eat healthy, but that usually last for a week and give up.
TBF: Is there a lot of pressure on young models to stay slim?
SS: I think there’s a lot of pressure on all young people to be slim. Luckily there are some woderful companies like Dove and Hanes that show people, especially woman, that it’s ok to not be a stick figure.
TBF: Is there much competition between models or do you all get on?
SS: I’ve only encountered a problem with one other female model. I wanted to set up a girl on girl shoot so she contacted me about wanting to work together. After the shoot she had deleted me from Facebook and I was like WTF?! I thought she had some nerve to do that after I brought her on to my shoot and connected her with a photographer I had been working with. Other than that incident, I’ve had no issues with other models.
TBF: What are your hobbies?
SS: Reading, art, ghost hunting, movie watching and shopping.
TBF: you’re an artist, do you paint?
SS: I draw, paint, wood burn, use pastels, and I have done tattooing. I like experimenting with different mediums.
TBF: Tell me more about your Paranormal Investigations
SS: It’s not at all like you see on TV. Now when I see paranormal shows I just laugh because some of these “ghost hunters” fake evidence and think they are better than everyone just because they are on TV. In real life paranormal invesigations are cold and dirty and sometimes you might not get much activity.
TBF: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
SS: Hopefully with a MSW, a good career, starting a family, and maybe getting published in a magazine. Who knows?
TBF: What’s on your iPod at the moment?
SS: A little bit of everything. I like Ricky Nelson, The Rolling Stones, CCR, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Adele, Pink, Papa Roach, Nickleback, Linkin Park, Korn, Hollywood Undead. I could go on.
TBF: Do you have any advice for girls who may want to get into modelling?
SS: Be careful! Alot of photographers and other models try to take advantage of girls. There are also a lot of scams out there. Bring someone to a shoot with you, and do referrence checks if you can. Don’t get pressured in to doing anything you’re not 100% comfortable with.
TBF: Finally, where can we see more of you?
SS:,, and several other sites that are listed on my personal site.

TBF: Thanks a lot for chatting to us

SS: No Problem, Thanks
